CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the residential and/or community setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred care to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

The Institute of Education and Training is offering the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support. This program provides learners with skills and knowledge required to provide care for individual and groups of older people. This includes a focus on holistic care incorporating a person centred, lifestyle enhancing approach. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

CHC33015 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of aged care settings. It addresses work primarily in residential facilities or within the community sector under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans.

The CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) provides students with skills and knowledge required to provide care for individual and groups of older Australians. This includes a focus on holistic care incorporating a person centred, lifestyle enhancing approach. Students will learn to carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of daily living for people in an aged care or community setting.

HLTAID004 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

This course is delivered encompassing 12 hrs self-paced study with a workbook, and 8 hours face to face training and assessment.

This unit provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. This course is designed for educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylaxis emergencies.

Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid across a variety of scenarios and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. Training includes treating ill and/or injured casualties contextualised to the education and care environment, performing compressions and ventilations and using an automated external defibrillator (AED).

HLTAID002 – Provide basic emergency life support

This course is delivered encompassing 6 hrs self-paced study with a workbook and 6 hours face to face training and assessment.

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide basic emergency life support effectively in a range of situations, including community, sporting and workplace settings.

Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid across a variety of scenarios and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course is delivered encompassing 10 hrs self-paced study and 8 hours face to face training and assessment.

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid effectively in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Course topics will include:
– How to recognise and respond to various emergency situations.
– How to perform CPR and operate an automated external defibrillator (AED).
– How to communicate details of the incident to emergency response services in line with statutory and/or organisational policies.

Practical activities will include:
– Treating simulated injuries and illness
– Performing CPR on a manikin
– Use of an AED on a manikin
– Use of an incident reporting tool

22282VIC – Course in the management of asthma risks and management in the workplace

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to be able to develop an asthma risk assessment and emergency management plan to manage asthma episodes in the workplace. It provides background knowledge of the triggers, symptoms and effects of asthma as well as emergency management.

This course is essential for people who may be required to provide emergency asthma first aid in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to perform emergency asthma first aid in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and will be able to assist a person suffering from asthma, until the arrival of medical assistance. It is particularly aimed at a wide variety of participants such as:
– Teachers
– Child care workers
– Aged care workers
– Disability workers
– Sports coaches
– Youth workers
– Designated first aiders/first aid officers

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide CPR safely and effectively in a range of situations, including community, sporting and workplace settings.

Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This includes performing compressions and ventilations and using an automated external defibrillator.
